Apple does NOT "Think Differently"!
But I sure do!

Well, it's official. Your's truly has been rejected from just about every Every Major Computer and tech Firm on the face of the Earth. I have More PFO (Please F**k Off) letters from HR departments, then you can shake a stick at, and Apple is no different.

About a week ago I got an "invitation" to an Apple "Group" Hiring session for the Apple Store. I knew I didn't fit the "Corporate Image" (remember, I scared the HELL out of HP's recruiters a few years back, and I bet a scared the Hell out of the Apple Team yesterday. At one point I was even told in nice terms to sit down and shut up. Remember, this was a group interview, and they show clips of how great it was to work for Apple Retail stores and they even did a group role-playing to see how we work out an average day to day scenario at an Apple store.

As you would imagine, I was the oldest person there, probably by a good 15 years. STRIKE 1: Apple probably ONLY hires young people to maintain that image. I wonder if I can bring forward an age discrimination law suite?

Strike 2: I don't fit the image of the slim youthful teenager. Yup! not one Fat person working for Apple (umm lawsuit Number 2?)

And probably the most damming Strike was when I was trying to articulate my Passion for hardware and the product, I was told (in an offhanded way) to Shut the fuck up!

Now, I knew, I would never be hired by Apple in the first place, but you always hear that Apple is the company that cares and is different. Well I can tell you first hand, that that is a full blow load of crap!

But, hey, you might think that this is just me having sour grapes of the whole thing, but you have to remember, I went in there knowing this in the first place, and people encouraged me to just give it a shot. You see, I did not even get a "One on One" interview with any of them, that's how much I scared them.

BTW back in November, I DID buy a band new iMac! I went down to the Apple store in West Edmonton Mall, just to have the "Experience". It was so busy, I should have just went to London Drugs down the block and have been home in 5 minutes, but NOOOO, I had to experience the Apple store!

Here was the "experience" in a nutshell:
First, we waited almost 15 minutes before we even spoke to a human. then we were moved over to the iMac area to wait for the actual "guy". We waited another 45 minutes, just to be rushed out the door. I was lucky I knew exactly what I wanted, but in the rush, I forgot the remote and the Apple Care warranty.
When I got home, I got an e-mail from Apple, asking how was the experience. I only found out through the e-mail, that I could have had all the updates downloaded at the store, instead it took 2 days to download them through the slow "windstick" internet I had. I also then got another E-mail form WEM Apple store and I told them the same thing. A few days later a manager contacted me about it. The truly weird thing though, is that even though the manager contacted and apologized, they did absolutely NOTHING to keep me happy and coming back. Not like I wanted anything, but when I have a London Drugs down the block, and they have the same stuff at the Apple store, for the same price, why would I spend the time on the bus, not to mention wading through the sea of people at WEM, just to got to the Apple store?
Hey, I understand that when you have over 100 people in the store (remember, the iPhone 4S had just come out), that customer service can be lacking, and I told her that. Hey, I am not in any way pissed off that I had a not so stelar experience at the Apple store. I had a MUCH worse Experience at West World Computers, just buying an Apple TV. THEY are all snotty and look down on every customer at West World. I actually though the Apple Store was pretty Cool.

In other news, I have sold off a lot of Amiga Stuff just to afford my iMac, this is not suggesting I am "getting out" of the Amiga Hobby, but I did reclaim my living room.
As you guessed, I have read the Steve Job's Biography about 15 times now. Yep I have the time at work to read it and it was the only book I had on my iPhone. I have also got 2 PowerMac G4 MDD units (which I have passed on to Mike), a Mac Mini G4, Which went to one of the Amiga guys (who gave me his A4000) and lastly. I got a PowerMac G5 Dual Processor unit that is now my main file server. The G5 is cool! I have it hooked up to my 32" LCD TV. I now "share" screens with the iMac, and it all works flawlessly. Yes, I have become a Mac Junkie.

Oh, and one last thing...
The original G3 iMac that started this whole journey off, is in the small hands of Corey's son, who loves playing some old OS9 games on it.

The way the New York Times and other publications have been beating on Apple lately, I can just Imagine the Headlines if someone leaked this blog to them. "APPLE STORE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST THE OLD AND FAT"!
LOL
