Justify my Love

BE FOREWARNED: Today's blog is a RANT
No matter what you do these days, there is always some Dipshit out there just waiting to attack you and Slander what you do. Instead of asking and talking, they just want to slam you at every corner.
Today was one of those days for me. As you all know, I have a ton of Kijji ads out for Amiga stuff.
I clearly put in the ad that these will be donated to me so I can one day set up a museum . I nether buy or sell these parts for profit. Well, some dipshit goes off to
point stating I sell them on E-bay. This is partly true. I do sell off the extra parts on e-bay to BUY parts I don't have. I first offer them all on the Amiga Forums to the Amiga collectors. Then if nobody wants them, they go off to E-bay. The money that is made from the sales, goes right back to e-bay for parts that I need. I have never made a dime off of any Amiga sale. Sometimes, I get parts that are incomplete (like my A1000 with no keyboard) well, I ask on the Amiga forums first, and if nobody has a keyboard, its off to E-bay to buy one. In fact I can produce a PayPal activity summary to prove this. I ONLY accept PayPal for my Auctions and NONE of my Paypal funds EVER get "Cashed out" but are used to buy more Amiga "Stuff". This summery is available to ANY potential Donater, providing they can prove that they are indeed donating hardware. In fact, I have donated money to the breast cancer foundation in return for some parts. So all you high and mighty dipshits out there that want to judge me, I give you the "Bird" above. If you contact me through kijji, then I report you. plain and simple. I do this because I want to, it is my passion. My On-Line store will be set up soon, to sell off even more stuff, but it also will be going to fund more hardware. My goal is to "even out" and have the hobby pay for itself, not be a big drain on my wallet.

Razzin the Apple Fanboyz
You all know how I love to razz all the Apple fan boyz out there. I live for it especially if it involves the iPhone, but now we have a story from INQ. Apparently, a Powerbook exploded and flames shot over 6 feet high! oh, I would have paid to see that! Now, to be fair, it seems this COULD have been one of the Sony battery's that were supposedly recalled a few years back, but there was so much damage, nobody could tell. Either way, if this story is true, pictures an stories will be all over the net in the next few days, and put a whole lot of egg on Apple's face. Just think back to what it did for Dell. Now, if we could get a couple of iPhones exploding, it would be classic.
I have not been on the Amiga much this week, I have been waiting for a few shipments. One thing that did get done is I got a complete A2000 video toaster unit. It comes with a ton of stuff, including:
Amiga 2000HD with a 1084S monitor, keyboard with all the following installed hardware in operating condition.
GVP 68030
Video Toaster 4000 card with 4.1 toaster software
Kitchen sync
External Mitac Syquest Drive with eleven 105mb removable disks
External Plextor CD/ROM drive
Star Micronics Model NX-2420 color dot matrix printer
The printer is fine, you can still get ribbons for it for only $6. I will be getting rid of the syquest drive though. I just pray they battery hasn't leaked all over the place.
The bad news is that I won't see this package for another month or so, as my parents are delivering it, to save on shipping. Believe me this is just the tip of the shipment with books, videos, and a whole lot more.
I also am still waiting for a new case for my A3000. It should arrive any day, because it's coming from Toronto, so delivery from Canada Post is anyones guess.
I have been proactively pursuing a keyboard for both the A1000 and A3000.

A1000 bits and Bytes

I know my A3000 has been taking all of my attention lately, but today I got in some unique items for my A1000 (still no keyboard yet). I hate to use the word "RARE" but 2 uncommon parts arrived this morning
.

The first thing I received was an A1300 genlock unit for the A1000. This unit was made by Commodore and is probably one of the first Video editing "add -ons" ever made for a Amiga (or a home computer for that matter). Not much is written or know about this part, as the Big Book of Amiga has a one sentence write up on it. It actually hangs underneth the unit
.
You can see in the above picture that the grill was damaged on the unit and it is a bit yellowed compared to the A1300

The second package I got in today was the TV Modulator. This unit originaly came packaged with a switch box and cable like the A520, but my package just had the modulator.

Now, I know what you are thinking. "Why not just use the A520, if you need to use a tv with the A1000, or just use the Genlock?" while the A520 will work perfectly with the A1000, I wanted to get original parts for this unit to be unique.

So that's it for now for the A1000, I am still hunting down a good keyboard for it, and other odds and ends.

A3000 Setup photos
Today, I am still fighting this Flu, but I did snap some pictures of my A3000 setup. I Also set up my minty A1000 system on my other table beside the A2000 unit (took down the A500), but I do not have a keyboard for the A1000, so no pictures yet (and there was a ton of crap on that table). You can see my Athlon 2100 tower set up next to the A3000, and they are connected and talking to each other VIA the null modem cable and Amiga Explore program. Yes its also got an A2000 keyboard, so I am working on getting a A3000

A close up of the front of my unit. The Zip drive will be coming out and a new case is being ordered. You can't see the damage in this picture, but the bottom of the case is twisted and banged in in one corner, so the top part of the case is no aligned properly. Also the floppy drive is not original, so it is hard ejecting the floppies and the button seems like it will break off at any time. Also the external hard drive is there to the left of the unit.
Did you notice the monitor? Normal, unless you got a video card, you can only use TV's or Commodore monitors on Amiga's.- Except the A3000. -SORT OF! the A300 had a bilt in VGA double scanner. Normal output is 15 MHZ for the video, but with the A3000's double scanner, you could use monitors that could go as low as 30MHZ. this LCD multisync can handle it, so no problems. the only thing is that you can only go 32 colors, so any pictures look like crap. I will have to pick up a decent Video card for it.

Sick Day
So, I have been sick with a really weird flu this week. Seems like everybody is catching it and it is a bit different from one person to the next. Not really a cold, but fever and such. But in between bed rest (you can only lay in bed so long), and struggling through my shifts at work. I not only have been going through my 2000 or so floppies, and loading up my A3000, but I have managed to bring my Athlon 2100 desktop system back online (the hard drive cratered after 10 years and I was just to lazy to swap it out until now), but My web host introduced me to Virtual PC 2007.
Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007 is a free download, and boy is it cool. As you can see by the screen shot, Not only am I running Windows 7 on my Voodoo, but I am running XP home and NT 4.0 ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Nor more need for legacy boxes, nor do you need to dual boot! Do you want to try Windows 7, but don't want to give up XP or Vista? -Run VM 2007!
I don't find any real lag or anything (although it was slow to install XP). Today, I am going to install Windows 98SE, Dos 6.2 and maybe my Amiga OS. I am not sure of the limit of how many VM's you can install, but it sure comes in Handy when my roommate needs to use my computer, and he can't figure out Windows 7 to save his life. I just full screen XP, and he can't tell that it is not running naively.
I am loading Windows 98 to play some old games again. You don't know Jack, Tomb Raider 4 , Leisure Suite Larry here I come.
You can all share a folder at the same time- hence this is how I got FireFox on Windows NT. NT only comes with IE 2 and now it is impossible to surf the new with 2, I loaded up 4 (which installs active desktop) and there is so much BS scripting on every site, you can't really surf shit. even going to try to download FF from their website was impossible, so you have to have it already. BTW, FireFox works just fine on NT4.
Today, The first thing I will do though is to clean my desk off, so I can put the Athlon Side by side with the Amiga 3000. I have a null modem cable and can hook the 2 together. With a program called Amiga Explorer, I can download files from the net and transfer them straight to the Amiga, as if it was another hard drive. Really cool.
